Dr. Camilo Prieto is an Academic Ambassador in Colombia for the World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS) and a professor in the Master’s Program in Energy and Sustainability at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. He contributes to advancing interdisciplinary dialogue on nuclear security, sustainable energy systems, and the societal dimensions of emerging technologies. Dr. Prieto is also a researcher, where his work focuses on the peaceful applications of nuclear science, energy transitions, and the interface between technology, policy, and society. His multidisciplinary background bridges medicine, engineering, and the humanities, enabling a comprehensive perspective on complex technological challenges. He is a medical doctor and reconstructive surgeon, currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Engineering with an emphasis on energy. He holds master’s degrees in Energy and Sustainability and in Philosophy, reflecting a strong commitment to both technical rigor and ethical reflection in the development and use of advanced technologies. In addition to his academic and clinical work, Dr. Prieto is an active science communicator and public intellectual. He has authored several books aimed at disseminating scientific knowledge to broader audiences, promoting evidence-based discussion on energy, environment, and technological development. Through his academic, research, and outreach activities, Dr. Prieto contributes to strengthening public understanding of nuclear science and its role in sustainable development, health, and environmental protection.
