Said Arévalo Alquichire, PhD

Said Arévalo-Alquichire is a Chemical Engineer and a PhD in Biosciences from Universidad de la Sabana (Colombia). Currently, he is a Research Fellow at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of Mass Eye & Ear and the Department of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. Over the past nine years, he has dedicated his research to the development of novel elastomeric materials, focusing on designing bioactive polymers for diverse applications such as vascular grafts, coatings, and biostable biomaterials. His work extends to translational research, where he has pioneered novel therapies for various vascular pathologies and ocular diseases. These include proliferative diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, as well as innovative approaches to addressing dementia.
