Dr. A. M. Abu Ahmed is a Professor in the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. His research focuses on plant molecular biology, functional genomics, plant biostimulants, protein hydrolysates, functional foods, nanobiotechnology, and molecular approaches for developing climate-resilient crops. His research interests include plant responses to abiotic stresses, particularly salinity tolerance, crop improvement, genome-wide association studies, molecular breeding, and the application of biotechnology for sustainable agriculture. He has been involved in research projects on lentil, Brassica napus, potato, and other agriculturally important crops, with emphasis on improving growth, productivity, stress tolerance, and nutritional quality. Dr. Abu Ahmed has extensive experience in supervising postgraduate research students, designing and conducting laboratory experiments, molecular biology techniques, biochemical analysis, and scientific research management. He has supervised numerous Master's thesis students and has contributed to research and academic activities through collaboration, scientific reviewing, and research project development. His broader research vision is to integrate molecular genetics, functional genomics, biotechnology, and sustainable agricultural practices to address emerging challenges in food security, climate change, and human health.
