Javier Martínez is a Nuclear Instrumentation Engineer and Development Specialist at Argentina’s National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA), where he works within the Instrumentation and Control Laboratory designing, qualifying, and maintaining electronic systems for nuclear facilities and medical applications. Trained as a Physical Engineer at the National University of Colombia (Medellín) and specialized in Technological Applications of Nuclear Energy at Instituto Balseiro, he combines strong theoretical foundations with hands-on expertise in safety-critical hardware for both research and power reactors. His work focuses on nuclear instrumentation, equipment qualification, and protection systems, including the design of amplifiers, radiation measurement devices, and seismic qualification methodologies for components used in nuclear power plants such as Atucha I and II, as well as research reactors like RA-10. He has led or contributed to the development of multiple qualified electronic units installed in operational facilities, adhering to stringent international standards for nuclear safety and reliability.  Beyond his engineering role, Martínez Espitia is an active educator and scientific communicator. He serves as a lecturer in nuclear engineering programs in Argentina and has taught instrumentation and control courses, helping train the next generation of nuclear professionals. He is also a founding member of the Colombian Nuclear Network (RNC), where he promotes public understanding of peaceful nuclear applications through outreach and educational initiatives.  His career uniquely bridges regulatory experience, research, industrial implementation, and academic teaching across Latin America, positioning him as a practitioner deeply engaged in the safe deployment of nuclear technology. He has participated in international training programs organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and contributed to activities related to reactor technology, equipment qualification, and radiological protection.
