Salvador Pastor Idoate, PhD

Dr. Salvador Pastor Idoate is a specialist in retina and vitreous diseases. He is currently an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Valladolid and the medical director of IOBA (Instituto Universitario de Oftalmología Aplicada). His extensive training includes a PhD in Visual Sciences, a fellowship in Medical Retina at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Vall d'Hebron Hospital in Barcelona. Dr. Pastor Idoate's research primarily focuses on diabetic retinopathy, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, retinal detachment, age-related macular degeneration and retinal dystrophies. He is dedicated to identifying molecular and genetic biomarkers for retinal diseases and advancing new technologies for retinal surgery. His clinical work emphasizes medical and surgical retina care, particularly in complex conditions like proliferative vitreoretinopathy and retinal detachments. He has been the principal investigator in four national clinical research projects and collaborated in over twenty clinical trials. Dr. Pastor Idoate has 47 indexed publications and numerous presentations at national and international conferences.
