Hermes Llanes is an electrical engineer with extensive experience in power systems, renewable energy, and energy infrastructure across the oil, gas, mining, and industrial sectors. His professional career includes significant contributions to major organizations such as Schlumberger BP Exploration Colombia, Drummond Ltd., Acerías Paz del Río, and Ecopetrol, where he has worked on complex energy and operational projects. In 2023, he was awarded the Certified Nuclear Security Specialized Professional (CNSsP) credential by the World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS), recognizing his expertise in the physical protection and security management of radioactive sources. In 2024, he completed the Nuclear Energy Diploma Program at the University of Antioquia, further strengthening his engagement with nuclear science and technology. Mr. Llanes holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Universidad de La Salle and a specialization in Electric Power Transmission and Distribution Systems from Universidad de los Andes. He also holds two master’s degrees: a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Universidad Externado de Colombia and a Master’s in Logistics and Operations Management from ENAE Business School, University of Murcia, Spain. He is currently completing a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy at Universidad del Rosario. In addition to his professional and academic work, Mr. Llanes has authored several science outreach publications, contributing to the dissemination of knowledge on energy systems, sustainability, and emerging technologies. Through his multidisciplinary background in engineering, management, logistics, and nuclear security, Mr. Llanes brings a systems-oriented perspective to the development of reliable, secure, and sustainable energy solutions.
