Vaibhav Sahni

Dr. Vaibhav Sahni is a scientist at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, with dual specializations in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Periodontics. He also holds the MFDS RCPS(Glasg), MFDS RCSEd, MFDS RCS(Eng) and the FDS RCS(Eng). His research focuses on maxillofacial injuries, point-of-care diagnostics, oral-systemic interactions, host-microbial interactions, and computational systems related to oral health and rehabilitation. Dr. Sahni's academic contributions include 75 PubMed-indexed publications, a long-standing experience as reviewer for several journals (being recognized as one of the top 2024 reviewers by Nature), and editorial positions in PLOS One, the European Journal of Medical Research, and the Journal of Medical Case Reports. He has invented and developed several free apps for clinicians, including MFTXAPP (calculators for FISS, MFISS, and GCS scores to help manage dental trauma), PerioPraX (for calculating periodontal and dental indices), and xGCS (a real-time Glasgow Coma Scale calculator). Beyond his research, Dr. Sahni is actively involved in community work. He served at the Blood Bank in Phagwara, Punjab, and led dental camps serving diverse communities including economically challenged, mentally challenged, differently-abled, and elderly patients. He expanded care at a Charitable Dispensary to include advanced dental and maxillofacial surgical procedures and participated in the Colgate Smile India Campaign, conducting dental screenings for thousands of students across multiple schools.
