Cytovance Biologics

Dr. Yushan Zhang, MD, PhD, is a multidisciplinary biomedical scientist whose career bridges clinical medicine, academic research, and biopharmaceutical development. Initially trained and practicing as a physician in China, he transitioned to research to broaden his impact on patient care. Over a 15-year academic career in cancer biology, he investigated mechanisms of tumor angiogenesis, metastasis, and therapy resistance, with a strong emphasis on the tumor microenvironment and vascular biology. His work has resulted in over 30 publications, including contributions to Blood, Materials Today, Bioactive Materials, Circulation, and Science Translational Medicine. Currently serving as a Scientist in Downstream Process Development at Cytovance Biologics, Dr. Zhang leads projects involving protein purification, formulation, and process optimization for GMP production. He draws from both his academic insight and technical expertise to drive innovation in therapeutic protein manufacturing. His ability to connect molecular mechanisms to process design reflects a rare integration of fundamental and applied science. In addition to his scientific contributions, Dr. Zhang has mentored multiple students and associates, and served as a scientific editor and peer reviewer for multiple journals. His career demonstrates a sustained commitment to translational research. Read all his bibliography here.
