María Roldán, PhD

María Roldán is a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of London and MSc in Epidemiology from the CES University in Medellín, Colombia. She is CTO and Co-founder of Crainio, a company that develops technology to revolutionise intracranial pressure (ICP) measurement by creating non-invasive, cost-effective instruments. She was awarded the Worshipful Company of Engineers Mercia Award in 2022 for her research on non-invasive multimodal monitoring in traumatic brain injury. Dr. Roldán is devoted to creating biomedical solutions for healthcare challenges related to the brain through the methodical use of bioinstrumentation and clinical data. She has a wide experience in the full cycle of medical device R&D, including in-vitro studies, protocol development, ethical approval, clinical trials, data collection, analysis, publishing in academic journals, and patenting. She has strong skills in electronics, development of in-vitro testing set-ups, and systematic mental structure for new research protocols within ethical and regulatory considerations.
