We have spent the last few months rebuilding ScienceBank from the ground up, and the new platform is now live at sciencebank.com. This post is the short version of what changed, written for the authors, reviewers and editors who use it every week.
One place for the whole journey
A manuscript now moves through submission, screening, peer review, decision, copy-editing, typesetting and publication on a single platform. Authors upload their work and follow it from their dashboard; reviewers work in a review workspace where notes are anchored to the passage they are about; editors see every open task in one queue. Nothing is emailed around any more.
Peer review that is paid and constructive
Reviewers are paid for completed reviews, with the rate set by each community, and payouts are managed from the reviewer's own settings. The review workspace guides towards specific, constructive comments, and our AI tools can help a reviewer sharpen a report — they never write it. That is a rule, not a setting: the AI on ScienceBank assists, and never authors.
Screening and integrity built in
Every submission is checked for similarity against the published literature before review begins, and editors see the result inside the manuscript record. Editorial decisions, author responses and every change of state are recorded, so the history of a paper is always available to the people who need it.
Typesetting that finishes the article
Figures and tables are placed at typesetting, the typesetter previews the proof exactly as it will print, and authors approve the proof before anything is published. Published articles carry a DOI registered with Crossref, ship as PDF and JATS XML, and appear on the article page with metrics, citation export and sharing.
Three languages, one platform
The platform runs in English, Spanish and Bahasa Indonesia, and public pages translate on read, so a reviewer in Jakarta and an author in Bogotá work in their own language.
Communities, membership and the society
Every community has its own landing page, editorial board and publications list. Society members manage their membership and billing from their account, and the members directory now shows the editors, authors and reviewers behind the journal.
And now: a newsroom, and webinars
This page is new too. From today the team will post releases, policy changes, new communities, press coverage and the posts we publish on social media here, newest first.
