Misión de Nuclear Science and Technology

Declaración de misión

To advance the understanding, development, and responsible application of nuclear science and technology by fostering a global, multidisciplinary platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and high-quality research dissemination. The community seeks to connect researchers, engineers, policymakers, and innovators to promote scientific excellence in reactor technologies, radiation science, nuclear safety, fuel cycles, waste management, and non-power applications across energy, medicine, industry, agriculture, and environmental protection. Through rigorous scholarship and open dialogue, we aim to support evidence-based decisions, technological innovation, energy security, sustainable development, and the well-being of society worldwide.

Objetivos y alcance

Our community provides a multidisciplinary platform dedicated to advancing the science, engineering, policy, and responsible application of nuclear science and technology across peaceful domains. We welcome fundamental, applied, and translational research that contributes to the safe, secure, and sustainable use of nuclear and radiation technologies worldwide.

The scope encompasses scientific, technical, regulatory, economic, environmental, and societal dimensions of nuclear technologies, including both power and non-power applications.

We welcome, but are not limited to, submissions in the following areas:

  • Reactor technologies, including current fleets, advanced reactors, SMRs, microreactors, and innovative concepts
  • Radiation science, dosimetry, radiobiology, and radiation protection
  • Nuclear safety, security, safeguards, and nonproliferation
  • Fuel cycles, nuclear materials, enrichment, reprocessing, and waste management
  • Geological disposal, interim storage, and decommissioning
  • Thermal-hydraulics, neutronics, structural integrity, and severe accident analysis
  • Digitalization, artificial intelligence, and advanced instrumentation and control
  • Nuclear economics, financing models, and energy system integration
  • Hybrid energy systems, hydrogen production, process heat, and industrial applications
  • Medical, industrial, agricultural, and environmental uses of radiation and radioisotopes
  • Policy, governance, regulatory frameworks, public communication, and societal acceptance
  • Education, workforce development, and capacity building in nuclear fields
  • Emergency preparedness, response, and resilience Nuclear applications for climate mitigation and sustainable development

Others may copy, distribute, remix, and build upon the work — including for commercial purposes — provided they give appropriate credit to the original authors.

Guidelines

Submissions are always open! Register at www.sciencebank.com to submit.

We welcome diverse article types and encourage submissions of null, negative, and contradictory results, as well as replication studies.

Our community adheres to the ScienceBank's editorial policies. To submit your work for editorial consideration, make sure you comply with its Author Guidelines. There you will find all of the needed information related to supported article types, document formatting, submission checklists, etc.

Additionally, please get familiar with the general policies before submitting:

  1. Authorship policy
  2. Disclosure of Funding Sources policy
  3. Competing Interests policy
  4. Copyright policy
  5. Data and Material Availability policy
  6. Software and Code Sharing policy
  7. Policy for reporting research with animals and with humans
  8. Ethics policy
  9. Post-publication procedures
Multilingual submissions and peer review

Currently, our editorial pool is open to receive articles in English.

If you want to submit in a different language, please contact us at edops@sciencebank.com with your proposal to assess if we have the capacity to evaluate your paper.

Publishing fees

This community publishes fully open access, and authors keep their copyright under an open licence. Fees depend on Society membership:

  • Society members publish with no article processing charge (APC).
  • Non-members pay a flat, transparent fee of 1,000 USD to publish. You can submit now and pay only if your article is accepted, or pay at submission and be refunded under the Fees and Payment policy if it is not published.
  • Waivers are available on request under ScienceBank's Fees and Payment policy, including for researchers from low- and middle-income countries.

For questions about fees, membership or waivers, contact edops@sciencebank.com. To understand what the publishing fees cover and all the benefits of publishing at ScienceBank, please refer to the "Publishing fees" section in the Fees and Payment policy.

Type of peer review

Our community reviews double-blind, which means:

  • Authors’ names and institutes are withheld from reviewers and from the handling editors during peer review
  • Reviewers’ names and institutes are withheld from authors, during peer review and after the decision
  • Reviewers’ names and institutes are anonymized to each other during the peer review process
  • The peer-review record is not published: no reviewer or editor names appear alongside the final article

The full policy is in the Editor and reviewer guidelines.

Peer review process
  1. Pre-screening: All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the ScienceBank team to ensure policy compliance with our policies, originality (using the software of Similarity Check), and the overall quality.
  2. Pre-acceptance: If a manuscript passes the initial screening, an editor from our community will evaluate whether it has the enough amount and quality of information (according to article's needs and the field standard) to proceed to peer review. In the case of potential conflicts of interests with our current editors and the authors, ScienceBank will suggest an appropriate editor from another community.
  3. Peer review: After pre-acceptance, two external reviewers are invited to evaluate the manuscript and provide constructive feedback aimed at improving it. Editors will then scope reviewers' comments to offer authors clear guidance on the revisions needed for resubmission.
